Squaw Valley - Olympic Resort With A Vision For The Future.

After hosting the Winter Olympics in 1960, Squaw Valley has become one of the premier skiing and snowboarding venues in the United States. The resort proudly lays claim to the first Funitel in North America which can operate in 75 mph winds, it is a key step towards making Squaw Valley's terrain safely accessible in any type of weather. Always looking to the future Squaw features a 3.2 mile permanently lit mountain run as well as two new wind-resistant detachable six-passenger lifts. The combination of modern skiing and breathtaking views makes Squaw Valley the best known resort in the Lake Tahoe area.

Snow In

Skiing & Boarding In

Of the 4,000 lift served acres on offer few are trail-cut runs, allowing skiers to pick their own way down the wide snow fields. Squaw Valley features a gentle bowl for beginners, whilst intermediate riders out for a challenge can take the Headwall Express Lift, then drop over the back of the ridge to Sun Bowl, beautiful if conditions are right. Squaw Valley is a veteren skiers paradise, over 30% of the runs are either single or double-black diamond, the Granite Chief, Headwall and Silverado lifts access some of the most challenging terrain in the world.

Après-ski In

The first two phases of Intrawest's new $250-million Village at Squaw Valley—First Ascent and 22 Station—are now open. The European-style pedestrian village has a total of 286 slopeside condominiums, 17 boutique shops and seven restaurants. With the new restaurants in Squaw Valley's pedestrian village adding to the excellent upscale choices at the lodges here, you don't have to leave the resort to get a good meal. For a breathtaking dining experience try Alexander's Cafe at High Camp, guests are required to ride the scenic cable car up 2,000 vertical feet to the top of the mountain, where they dine on a fixed-price, three-course meal overlooking Lake Tahoe. Alternatively the PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn has a cozy fireplace and an excellent selection of wine. When your party feet start itching move on to Bar One for live music, dancing and pool tables. For the best prices of post-slope watering holes check the local papers, regularly advertising half-price drink promotions in the area.

We had a great holiday. We were very pleased with the apartment and would seriously think of renting it again next year if it were available. Great location and nicely furbished. Thank you very much for making our holiday possible - no other agent was prepared to even consider investigating the possibility of a holiday from Wed to Wed.
