Eastern USA hit by snowstorm 1st Nov 11 It's been snowing in New York and many of the ski resorts in Eastern USA. A number of resorts have opened early following good falls in Colorado and Utah.
Weather watchers say it is one of the severest October storms since 1865.
The storm has dumped snow across New York State, Vermont, Massachusetts, Maine, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, West Virginia and Connecticut.
On Saturday 29th October Killington Resort in Vermont started its lifts, and Sunday River in Maine started the same day.
Conditions in Killington are described as "powder and machine groomed" with 600 vertical metres available and 10 acres of terrain.
It is the earliest opening of the resort since 2005 and it had 6 inches (15cm) of new snow on its slopes. back to news
