Skiing & Boarding In Winter Park

Mary Jane (including Parsenn Bowl), Winter Park, Vasquez Ridge and Vasquez Cirque ski areas make up Winter Park Resort, one of the largest in Colorado. These mountains, each with its own unique character, are interconnected by ski trails and a very efficient and fast lift system. Vasquez Cirque offers some of the most extensive and challenging terrain (and off piste) with single/double black diamond runs down through the trees and narrow chutes. After enjoying the powder in Parsenn Bowl, advanced skiers can try tackling Mary Jane – with bumps for the brave-hearted making up a third of this mountain, it is one of the top ten places in the USA for mogul skiing. Intermediates head for Vasquez Ridge and Winter Park where much of the terrain has been designed for them. The runs are wide and groomed and easily explored with one of the free ‘Meet the Mountain’ tours organised by the resort. Ski school in Winter Park is exceptional value, with a half-day lesson ranging from just $20-30. Alternatively, take a day trip to Copper Mountain which is only an hour away and covered on the Winter Park lift pass. Skiworld staff can organise this locally.

Après-ski In Winter Park

The town is one of the best value resorts in Colorado and is approximately 1.5 miles from the ski area and linked with an efficient bus service. There is an unpretentious, friendly atmosphere to the town and a good choice of restaurants; from the local’s favourite The Crooked Creek Saloon to Mexican and Cajun cuisines. For those feeling the thirst, Deno’s bar claims to have over 100 types of beer. After a day on the slopes, skiers and boarders have their choice of activities, including snowmobiling, dog sledding and casino trips. For a true western-style experience, take a horse ride along a snow-packed trail.
