Skiing & Boarding In Mayrhofen

Mayrhofen is a particularly good choice if this is your first time on skis. Patient instructors and gentle nursery slopes will ensure you get the most out of your first ski trip and there are a variety of gentle beginner slopes at over 1800m at the top of the Penken mountain. The Penken, Mayrhofen's intermediate mountain offers red runs galore. The lift pass also covers the blue 'motorways' of Kaltenbach and the scenic tree lined reds of Zell am Ziller, not to mention the Hintertux Glacier and the peaceful less-discovered areas of Lanersbach and Gerlos. All areas are linked by public transport - either ski buses or the valley's train line and you have the added bonus of a Crystal Ski Escort to help you make the most of this fantastic valley! There are tricky routes down the Penken Mountains to Schwendau and through the trees from the Ahorn (now served by the vast Ahorn cable car - located just 200m from the Penken gondola in the centre of the village). The Horberg ski area also offers a number of exciting long runs like the challenging Schafskopf mogul run. Don't miss a run down "Harakiri" - the steepest pisted black in Austria. Mayrhofen is renown as one of Europe's top snowboard resorts with it's hugely publicised Burton fun park, crammed full of features, boarder cross and quarter and half pipes. Throughout the area you'll find many broad carving pistes and some fantastic off-piste, great on powder days.
