La Rosiere - Sunny, High Altitude Resort On The Italian Border |
Sunny, high altitude resort with great views over the Valley La Rosiere enjoys a high, sunny location in the Tarentaise Valley with great views of Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa. The resort has been built in a traditional chalet style along the road which leads from Bourg St. Maurice to the Petit-St-Bernard pass. The Espace San Bernardo ski area includes La Thuile in Italy, giving you the chance to pop over the border for a real Italian pizza for lunch!
La Rosière is a small, attractive, purpose-built resort in the Savoie region. It’s quiet and friendly, and one of the main attractions is the connection with La Thuile in Italy. This appeals to intermediates who enjoy cruising over the border for an authentic pizza, but more importantly draws those wishing to take advantage of the heliskiing opportunities that the connection with Italy brings. The views of Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa are fantastic. The Espace Bernado has 150km of runs for beginners and intermediates to explore but experts may tire of the slopes after a couple of days. This could be solved with a heli-skiing/boarding trip or a visit to the nearby slopes of Val D’Isère, Tignes or Ste. Foy. The snow is good in La Rosière and even better over in La Thuile, and most of the pistes are in glorious sunshine, which is fairly rare in France.
Activities in La Rosière include driving packs of dogs, helicopter flights, paragliding or snowmobiling. There is a cinema and a fitness centre. On Monday evenings you can join the ESF in a torchlight descent. Heliskiing or boarding is popular over in La Thuile. Events in La Rosière include Christmas activities, a stage of the Snowkite World Cup in January, a telemarking day, a junior skiing and snowboarding competition and a slopestyle contest for children between 8 and 14 years old. Most of the activities are geared towards children and so it is a great place for young families. La Rosière is perhaps best suited to beginner or intermediate skiers or snowboarders who are looking for a peaceful chalet holiday.

Skiing & Boarding In La Rosiere |
La Rosiere has something to offer every level of skier. For the beginner there are two great nursery areas, one near the main village and one near Les Eucherets where many new chalets are being built. For the intermediate there are plenty of reds and blues on both the La Rosiere side and on the Italian side towards La Thuile. The expert can find some good off-piste and will enjoy the famous Marcassin run to La Vaz, as well as the opportunity to try heli-skiing across the border in Italy |

Après-ski In La Rosiere |
| Activities in La Rosière include driving packs of dogs, helicopter flights, paragliding or snowmobiling. You can also travel to Tignes or Val D’Isère to try activities such as ice diving or ice climbing. The cinema shows films in English (there are extra afternoon showings in bad weather) and the fitness centre has a sauna, hammam, Jacuzzi and a gym and weight training room. You could also join the ESF in the torch light descent every Monday evening. The descent is open to competent skiers of all ages. This is followed by a demonstation by the instructors.
The Yeti is one of the friendliest restaurants in town and they serve some great cocktails and shots into the bargain. They also do good Savoyard specialities. The Chalet and Le Turia are the two smartest restaurants in town. Le Turia serves Lebonese dishes, meat and fish skewers to cook at the table and gourmet menus.
La Rosière hasn’t got the most vibrant nightlife so the party people may wish to look elsewhere. There are a few bars for a drink though. The Yeti is a good hangout spot as well as a restaurant, and they have the odd live music night. Le Petit Relais is one of the best places for après ski in La Rosière and Arpin’s has karaoke and a pool table. Le Pub is one of the most popular places to go and it’s the only real club in town. The Roc Noir is where most of the season workers go; it has a good happy hour and it’s the best place to be later on at night.
